You're My Home by Katie Moore

genuinely kinda shocked I finished this tbh

It was probably the cheesiest thing I've ever read in my life. Like the amount of hugging and lap sitting and forehead kissing was excruciating. The way Zach was infantilized for the first chunk of the book made me genuinely uncomfortable (dude can't even get in/out of a truck by himself??? are you serious?) constant panic attacks and soft boy holding. Brady is probably the most controlling person I've ever read but it's okay because Zach is just smol bean who can't walk two feet without bursting into tears.

His parents were comically evil, and like just no one was a real person. They met and within five minutes were soul bonded together, infodumping trauma on each other. There was no subtlety. There was no nuance. It read like unedited fanfiction. I genuinely have no idea why I kept reading.
