Phoenix and the Frost Palace by Aisling Fowler

4.0

Phoenix and the Frost Palace is an exciting children's Fantasy, carrying on expertly from Twelve and the Frozen Forest. We have the usual heroes and monsters and a mission with dire consequences, but what really struck me throughout was, despite remaining age appropriate, this didn't feel like a kids book. Yes the protagonists are young, but the adults respect them for their skills and capabilities, and I didn't once done myself thinking 'why on Earth did you do that?' which in itself was a wonderful suprise.

All in all, this was a fantastic continuation of the series. You do need to read the other book first, but on the plus side you'll love it enough to want to rush out and buy this one as well. Can't wait for more, and already imaging the spin off side-novels this interesting world could create.
