Honestly, I didn't think I would even read this book when I first heard what it was about. Dual sexual assaults, and reading about them in 2021? Not sure I can handle that. But this book is both heartbreaking and beautiful. I read it in almost one sitting, I had trouble putting it down. What happens to Ciela and Lock is horrifying, yet McLemore never leaves us without hope.
