Borderline: An Annika Bengtzon Thriller by Liza Marklund

4.0

Borderline is the first Liza Marklund book that I have read and it is #9 in the Annika Bengtzon series. Annika is a reporter and her husband Thomas has been kidnapped while traveling through Africa for his work. This is not the typical crime thriller where Annika would be solving a case. She is looking into a possible serial killer, but that story line is fairly minor. In this book, Annika is mostly dealing with how to get her husband freed. I enjoyed the book, but had a difficult time connecting to Annika. She obviously has a lot of back story. While the book can be read standalone, I feel like I would be able to connect to the character so much better if I had read the others. The ending did a very good job of making me want to know what happens next in Annika's life. I have decided to go back and start this series from the beginning to see how I like it.
