Honestly, at the start, I struggled to get into it. The vibe and atmosphere were EVERYTHING—haunting, immersive, and really drawing you into the woods—but all the background stories and constant time jumps were a bit much. It felt like I was wading through a lot of info without a clear sense of where it was going.

Then, somewhere around the halfway mark, it all started clicking. Every little detail and side story began to fit together, and suddenly, I couldn’t stop reading. I had to know what happened to Barbara Van Laar, and there was no way I was putting the book down until I got answers.

In the end, the slow start made sense, and it actually made the second half hit even harder. If you’re patient, the payoff is totally worth it.
