The book is... Interesting to say the least. I've had this in my to read list for a long time, just never got around to it. 
Now it popped up as included on Audible so I had a listen. 

I understand why some of my friends were obsessed with it 10 years ago, but I know me worldview since then has changed enough for it to be not this amazing piece of art anymore. 

It has a lot of problematic racist portrayals, even if they are just casting any type of person into fill that role, it's still very strong racist overtones. 

Along with the capitalist hellscape we find ourselves in today. Maybe that's why it's so bad. I'm not saying the book is bad, just it hits different today than it would've for me 10 years ago.
