Death Comes to Pemberley
by P.D. James
A presumptuous, flaccid disappointment lacking--among many other things (like an engaging plot or a mystery or characters who grow)--almost all of Austen's irresistible wit. Perhaps chief among its sins is the choice to summarize a letter from Mr. Collins. To hell with anyone who denies me a Collins letter.
