Financial Intelligence: A Manager's Guide to Knowing What the Numbers Really Mean by Joe Knight, Karen Berman

4.0

I read this as part of my business finance course, but it took me a while to finish the second half of the book. It’s very detailed with excellent explanations and examples.

The final chapter has many recommendations for improving financial literacy on teams and within organizations, including a weekly numbers meeting to go over the impact that peoples work is having on the numbers that matter for an organization. I think that would be a great step for every organization. I’ve never been part of such a meeting and only ever hear about quarterly earnings results or KPI’s for performance reviews that seem to have a little to do with my own work.
