Quick. Bland. Underwhelmed.

This is one of my all time favourite movies so when I heard it had been adapted into a book, I had to read it. The book very much follows the film with very few changes or added flourishes which I think actually makes it lose something. The description isn’t particularly vivid or exciting and heavily relies on your knowledge of the movie representational carry it along.
Overall, I shed a tear but I wasn’t as overwhelmed with emotion as I am every time I see it on screen. Robin Williams’ charming character, who holds such a special place in my teacher heart, can’t be replicated on the page it seems; and this serves as a quick read to fill a short space of time as opposed to sharing the emotional experience of the movie.
