I was taken in the beginning by how odd and different this plot and setting were. The historical parts about the end of the Dutch colonial era, WWII in Java and East Timor, then surge of the communist party was fascinating. But then it just went on with the incest and rape fantasies so in the end I feel gross for finishing it.
