Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 by Cho Nam-joo

4.0

This book is infuriating - I spent the entire time mad about the society surrounding Kim Jiyoung and how it constantly prevented her from being independent, successful, and respected. What really got me was that the author included stats/sources to empasize that, though this book is fictional, these experiences are reality for South Korean women. There is no resolution in this book, there is no happy ending, there's just unsettling reality.
