The Strike Out by Meghan Quinn

4.0

I love that Meghan Quinn has brought fans back to the Brentwood campus where the locker room superstition and all the future baseball greats got their start.

Holt is a bit of a cocky ass to others, but I loved him anyway because he when it counts he truly is humble, kind, and funny as all get out. His pursuit of Harmony is relentless and I cheered on Harmony as she shot down every one of his passes. They give good banter and there’s a nice build up.

Once they get together, their relationship is put on the fast track and some of Harmony’s independence is lost. I prefer a little more time before couples drop the L word, but I appreciated how all-in Holt is. Their chemistry is fantastic and despite some immaturity, they are willing to put work on their relationship.

My biggest beef with the Brentwood series is
Spoiler the torturing of readers by breaking up couples and then dragging out their heartache and reconciliation for a crazy number of years.
Well, it must be Christmas because that doesn’t happen with this book. In fact, Quinn makes a little inside joke about it. I could not have been more relieved.

Be sure to download the bonus epilogue. It’s a real treat that shouldn’t be missed.
