Barnaby Unboxed! by the Fan Brothers [Tundra Books #gifted]
Barnaby Unboxed! is the most wonderful sequel to The Barnabus Project - one of my favourite picture books to this day. In this story, we get to follow the story of Barnaby, the Perfect Pet that serves as a foil to Barnabus - the success to which Barnabus was marked as a failed project. But as we follow Barnaby's story, we realize that his story is not quite perfect as he soon finds himself competing with the newest version of himself out on the market. When he gets lost and left behind, Barnaby has to make it in the wild and discover what it means to be loved and lost as a child's toy. It's a beautiful and thoughtful story about the lifespan of toys and other material items as we are constantly inundated with what is new and trendy. I absolutely loved Barnaby and the story comes full circle by the end as we can see a scene in the park from The Barnabus Project.
