The Waves by Virginia Woolf
5.0
i actually finished the waves in the middle of a trip and i was overwhelmed by the crowd at the moment to actually be still and pour my fresh thoughts and feelings towards this literary masterpiece so as i'm writing this my thoughts are not as fresh and as thrilling as it was after finishing the book. perhaps i overmarinated them. but as always, virginia woolf never cease to amaze me with her beautiful take on human and nature in its most pure and raw form that will make you feel as if you're floating within the raging waves that is life itself.
the way that it is written in a stream of consciousness—something that woolf is very known for as only her genius self could ever done such work with such greatness in itself—was so powerful and interesting as we follow these cast of characters as they grow and experience love, loss, grief, maturity and so much more experiences that we all live through as we continue to grow in this temporary and yet ever evolving world.
her words as always are hard-hitting and lyrical and i will never stop adoring this woman's works and will continue to recommend virginia woolf's books every chance that i get. as i said in my previous review of her other known work, orlando, virginia woolf was simply ahead of her time and the world simply wasn't ready for the massive impact of the waves that is virginia woolf herself.
