How to you really rate and review this book? I read most of it with my jaw hanging open so it is an exciting read, but then the content is truly horrific. I feel like this belongs in the horror category and yet is somehow pseudo-romance at times and that is confusing and disturbing. My mother claims this is the book that got her into reading, so there's that, although I'm not sure why she felt I just had to watch the movie (like 1980s version) when I was around 14. It is the first in a series, which I will not be continuing because, frankly, I just don't need to know any more. That said, if you want an entertaining read and you really, really do not care about the subject matter or writing quality (some of the oddest composed sentences) you could do worse.
