3.5

Enjoyable and poetic writing, well-developed characters, and an interesting premise. However, this did not need to be as long as it is. The first half is very dense and there’s not a lot going on as so many characters and storylines are introduced. It begins to feel very slow and I struggled to stay engaged. However, I do think the plot picks back up in that middle/two-thirds and is then intriguing again. The last few chapters are really fantastic, but that doesn’t necessarily make up for its very slow start.
