D: A Tale of Two Worlds by Michel Faber

4.0

I honestly enjoyed this book a ton. The main character, Dhikilo wakes up one morning to find that the letter 'D' has simply disappeared from the world. When in conversation, the author got rid of all the D's from the words which adds a fun game-like element of trying to figure out what the word is. ('Ecie' had me stuck for a while, eventually, I realised it was the word 'decided'.) Dhikilo ends up going on a journey which made me think of classics like Narnia and Alice in Wonderland while reading it.
