Ice Ghosts: The Epic Hunt for the Lost Franklin Expedition by Paul Watson

4.0

"One truth is eternal: Royal Navy prejudice towards indigenous people helped doom the Franklin Expedition, and the arrogant disregard for Inuit knowledge prolonged efforts to find out what happened to Sir John Franklin and the men he led to their deaths...The people who have lived in the High Arctic the longest - the Inuit who have understood a capricious place for centuries - are certain of this: If you must see to know, you will miss many things that are real."

a fascinating detective story that covers the actual expedition, lady jane franklin's hunt in the 1800s, and the hunt from the 1900s to the modern day. well worth a read after watching or reading fictionalized accounts!
