Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
dark
reflective
sad
medium-paced
3.5
It feels wrong to give someone’s diary a rating, but here I am. It was a good read, one I could pick up and put down and easily go back to where I left off.
The content? Marcus—yes, we are on a first name basis now, I just read his innermost thoughts— had some absolute banger quotes in there! AND some great thoughts to reflect on in my own journal.
Even though he was a literal Roman emperor, who’s not only separated from us by station and time, his thoughts strike a chord with me, his worries are worries I have. Meditations shows how utterly human he is and how connected we all are by our condition alone :-)
I give this diary 3.5 stars.
