Night Study by Maria V. Snyder

3.5/5

I struggled to really get in to this book, in part due to the frequent POV changes. I don't mind seeing the different parts of the story, but in this case it almost broke the story up too much. There's certainly plenty of drama going on in Yelena and Valek's lives, but until around the 3/4 mark, it was all a bit bitty. Lots of different (and mostly interesting) things going on, but it wasn't really going anywhere. But the last quarter of the book picked up a lot, and then became a sprint to the end. I enjoyed the book overall, and most of the last 100 pages or so I was loving it. There were some great revelations and I'm really eager to see what it means for Yelena and Valek in the final book. That said, the very last page, had me frustrated with both of them once again.

So, overall, a decent story and continuation from the previous book. But it is suffering from some middle book issues. Here's hoping the final book lives up to its predecessors and gives a higher impact story once more!
