Charming and impossible to put down. I was a little unsure about this one at first. It has a slightly more pessimistic, jaded tone to it than I’m used to in Rainbow Rowell books. and I found it hard to get behind a love interest who’s a part of the U.S. Navy. Nonetheless, Rowell is a master at writing messy characters who you can’t help but root for, and by about a third of the way through I was completely hooked and very emotionally invested. I wanted the story to keep going just so I could hang out with the characters for a little longer.
