If you've ever read an abridged version of The Arabian Nights for kids and are now an adult, you owe it to yourself and to Shaherazad to read this translation/retelling - poetic, exciting, surprisingly raunchy and altogether magical. It's not all the tales, but that doesn't matter when they're so sublimely written.
