Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews
5.0

“Onward, my noble steed. To our inevitable doom and gory death.”

Magic Binds was such an epic ride! It became one of my favourite books from this whole series!

I loved all of the characters, so much happened to all of them in this book! We finally learn Christopher's past and who
Spoilerwhat
he actually is.
SpoilerAlso I totally ship Barabas and Christopher together!

Kate rocks as always, and we learn so much more about her magic and ancestry. Maybe even meet her darker side. Curran and Kate are, as always, my otp.

“Did you run any of this by Curran?”
“I told him I was about to do something idiotic and dangerous, and he told me to go ahead and let him know if he could help in any way.”
“I don’t understand your relationship.”

One of the little problems I had with the previous book - Magic Shifts was the fact that Roland was barely there and acted a bit strangely, but in this book he is once again his complex megalomaniac-villain self. And I love it!
SpoilerI loved the reappearance of Kate's aunt Erra, and how strangely proud of Kate she sometimes was.
All of the characters I love were very much present here at some point.
SpoilerExcept for one though, and that is Hugh! I kind of love that crazy bastard. Hope he'll appear in the last book, because I think his story isn't over yet.

“I hadn’t crossed the line. I’d ridden an elephant up to it and run back and forth along its edge while a mariachi band played in the background, but I hadn’t crossed it.”

Magic Binds was hilarious read as all Kate Daniels novels, the plot was great - every important scene led to another, the battle scenes were epic, the magic and mythology was amazing - there was even a dragon and Pegasus! And it just made my emotions all over the place. I cannot wait for the tenth book and conclusion of this series, and hope it will be just as epic (or even more so) as this book.

“You're like a crazy cat lady, but you collect killers instead of fluffy cats."
"I don't collect killers."
"Yes, you do, and those who aren't killers turn into killers by the time you're done. You made Julie into a maniac. That child has more knives on her than a squad of the PAD.”
