Everyone Who Can Forgive Me Is Dead
by Jenny Hollander
DID NOT FINISH: 27%
Started off promising, but quickly fell into boring territory for me. While the characters and their interactions promised intrigue, the prose was just no fun. I'm not expecting gorgeous prose in a thriller, but when you clumsily repeat words and phrases within the same page—or even paragraph—I'm not having a good time.
There's also the issue of the big secret that Charlie supposedly has, which she seems to remember and dance around. The issue with limited perspectives is that real people don't hold onto secrets like this. People might be vague with circumstances, but never with details. I don't think this book pulls off a POV character withholding key information from the reader.
All in all, just not my thing.
