Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

5.0

Just Listen is a contemporary YA novel written by Sarah Dessen. It was first published in 2006. Sarah Dessen is a well-known writer for her YA contemporary romance novels. I hadn’t read any of her books before, and I kept hearing how good they were. Hence, I finally picked one out.

Annabel had it all. She had friends, popularity and work as a local model. However, the New Year is about to start and she hasn’t had any things except from the model work. Moreover, she doesn’t even like modelling anymore; she just keeps doing it for her mother. Looking for a place to have lunch she ends sitting next to Owen. Owen is a boy who is said to have had violence problems, and a guy who spends the day connected to his iPod. After an incident with her ex-best friend, Sophie, the only one who helps her is Owen.

Just listen was a fantastic book. It was an easy light read that I really enjoy. My personal belief is that what can be actually seen in this book is the character development. Furthermore, I think is a novel about self-development and self-discovery. It was a good book to remind us about the importance about keep going and don’t give up.

To sum up, Just listen was a fantastic contemporary book. I highly recommend it if you like light girly books
