House of Sky and Breath
by Sarah J. Maas
Id give this like a 3.75, I'm round up as giving it a 3 would be unjustified.
I've really enjoyed the story, very different from the ACOTAR series, more modern which was a strange shift after reading lots of fantasy books recently.
As with CC1, it is a lot. 800 pages of a lot. It felt like it could have been shorter. Sections of the story just not needed but in true SJM fashion the last 200 pages had me scrabbling for more.
And that ending... My brain is still comprehending what I've read on the page. Hoping the next one is slightly shorter as this was a feat in itself.
Edit: I've just got the 3rd book and at 830 pages I'm scared...
