As a fan of Tillie and someone who has really not enjoyed previous Walking Dead works, I felt like Tillie’s art style and storytelling was a refreshing take on the franchise while still maintaining the classic feel. Clementine still follows the Walking Dead plot formula, yet there is beauty in the way such a horrifying world is portrayed. It was a reminder that one could still be human even in the most dire of circumstances, a more hopeful sentiment than the usual zombie apocalypse evokes, and I enjoyed that. It made me care about the characters and believe they may actually have futures.
As someone who usually dislikes zombie stories, this one was worth the read, especially if you’re a Tillie Walden fan.
