Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll
1.0
Not a single good thing about this one, sorry to say.
This book sets itself up as another twisty psychological thriller, similar to [b:Gone Girl|19288043|Gone Girl|Gillian Flynn|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1397056917s/19288043.jpg|13306276]. Of course it happens to not be like that at all. There is no mystery, no thriller aspect, and all the characters are as one-dimension as possible. There is barely anything interesting in here and just a huge waste of time. It was insanely boring and I'm not even sure what the author was trying to do here; the story was pointless.
Reading about Ani and her past and present was actually awful. Ani is such a shitty person who judges everyone for no reason, and even seeing all the bad things that happened in her past doesn't give me a shred of sympathy for this annoying and awful woman. Sure you can say that Ani being awful is the point and I'll agree with you but Ani wasn't done well at all. I've felt for awful characters- even murdering ones but Ani? Nah, she can choke.
Ani's past is ridiculously tragic, with one bad thing happening after another and another. By the end it reached a point of being just so fake. The fact that it all happened to a bunch of 14 year olds just made it more dumb. Wow! Such horrible things happening to kids!
Everything was so boring. Please at least be entertaining but this was dull city and I don't know why or even how I sat through the entire thing. Maybe I thought there would be something to save it in the end but no. It just ends super unsatisfying, reminding me that I really did waste so much time on a story that gave me nothing in return.
