Another 5 star book by CJ Cooke. She’s my new favorite author and I can’t get over how well she writes her thrillers.
I love everything about them. The setting: whether it’s set around a fjord in Norway, a remote Scottish island, or an uninhabited Greek island I love how her writing transports you to these beautiful landscapes.
I love the way she expertly portrays the bond between parents and children (especially the bond a mother has for her children). Maybe it’s due to me being a new mom, but these relationships in her book bring out all the feels in me and just seem so raw and real and I can’t get over them.
I love how she weaves folklore and myth into her stories that help give a spooky supernatural feel to the story.
This book didn’t have as much of the folklore/mythology aspect to it but she still managed to sprinkle some Greek mythology into this book.
It’s a great psychological thriller and I can’t recommend it enough.
