kharlia 's review for:
Le Cauchemar d'Innsmouth
by H.P. Lovecraft
Better than the Call of Cthulhu, but just because this time we follow a character that is living is own "adventure", and the 10 last pages saved this book from a 1 star honestly. Because the rest of the book was just really boring for me.
I feel like the Lovecraft's Universe is great, it's just the author the issue for me. Like he doesn't know how to deal with his own imagination.
I am a huge rolist, and the Game Masters that told stories in this universe were better at make it feel horrific and make me feel uncomfortable and paranoid in the way creatures from Lovecraft's universe are supposed to make you feel like.
Or maybe each time he talks about fish people all I could think about was fish people cult in Baldur's Gate 3 and so it makes difficult to feel horrified by it in the book since in the game they are just goofy.
And oh god, was it really necessary to repeat every pages how everyone was ugly and everything stinky ?...
