Killing Commendatore by Haruki Murakami
4.0

there has always been an innate comfort in Murakami's endless depiction of domestic activities, with the alternation of some inscrutably quaint events. those recurring elements from his earlier works being written in this book—the way he pours his subconscious over and over into his books is what makes his works so unique and special.
the end of underworld journey felt like being awakened from a bizarre lucid dream in a siesta, it felt riveting, yet short. but, overall, i was profoundly engrossed by the role of a painting as an allegorical medium in the story, which discloses many ways to interpret it; also, the portrayal of idea, metaphor, and its connectivity toward the unnamed protagonist's journey, both in the underworld and this realm.
