At around 50% Zheng secret got out and I was so pissed reading the next 20% because of how quickly Xian switched on Zhen even we he knows him personally but yet didn’t think about that and chose to continuously hurt him and then doubt himself when he could save Zhen at ANY point and just leave and disappear and have a happy life. But NOOO like I get wanting to save your mother but like it’s not Zhen fault that he took the pearl when he was a snake he DIDNT KNOW, yet Xian still blames him for doing something that he didn’t know would have consequences. Also I 100% know that Xians mother would not condone what Xian is doing to Zhen and would rather die than have someone else hurt because of her. The last 20% I read also infuriated me because of Xian and I can’t do it anymore he pisses me off too much. I wish I loved this one as much as Fake Dates and Mooncakes but I’ll have to see when the authors next book comes out. Also I feel like their writing does better in a contemporary romance setting than a fantasy (minor historical fiction) romance setting. I will be skimming the last one hundred pages to see if I would have liked going further and genuinely reading them but I don’t have high hopes.
