iamnotamerryman 's review for:
Pegasus
by Robin McKinley
5 stars for coming up with the compelling world this is set in, which is what kept me reading the whole time. The actual execution left me wanting. The book meanders its way around for almost 400 pages, then finally starts to come to a point, then it abruptly ends mid-climax with no indication if there is a sequel or more to the story. I had to look online to see there was a sequel planned, but it was supposed to come out at least 7 years ago, so who knows. (wish I'd realized this before reading).
The writing style is incredibly frustrating - 3/4 of the book is told not shown and in such a weird way of time-jumping back and forth and flashbacks to flashforwards to present that made it hard to get fully immersed in the story. The whole book just needed way more editing.
I also really wanted an appendix or at least more description to know just what exactly taralions, ladons, etc. are.
