Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff
- Plot- or character-driven? Character
- Strong character development? Yes
- Loveable characters? It's complicated
- Diverse cast of characters? It's complicated
2.5
I am torn on this one. There were parts that are just top notch and there are parts that are meh.
Gabriel is a good protagonist. I mean he is a bastard who would do whatever it takes to protect his loved ones. And he *knows* he is an asshole and accepts it. And that's super rare.
Also I might be wrong but god why it was nececary to include "girl who dresses like a boy" bec it's safer... And nobody asked pronouns of the person in question... 😐
The idea that vampires are evil because the can do *whatever they want with no consequence* not any magical shinnanigans. Grey Wardens 😍😍😍
Also a man who hates everyone but his boyfriend 😍😍😍🏳️🌈
P. S. I know this review is a mess.
