This series has been recommended to me so many times I thought it was about time I started to listen. I'm not really a sci-fi fan, but this is a book about historians travelling back in time and it's absolutely fascinating! As the title says this really is one damned thing after another as the protagonist, Max, visits a WW1 hospital, and then gets up close to dinosaurs. Max is a fabulous character. she is energetic, fearless and fun and is determined to get the job done.
There is a lot of humour in the book but Ms Taylor also touches on more serious subjects such as sexual assault. miscarriage and bullying. The death count is also pretty significant! This is a long series so I have lots more to look forward to!
The book is brilliantly narrated by Zara Ramm.
