The War of the Poor by Éric Vuillard
3.0
Social history cum revolutionary tract told with the imaginative force of a novelette. This is a brisk little book and one that feels to have a foot each in fact and fiction. Opening pages are thrillingly written; alas, that momentum's shortly after lost as the story shifts settings. Unusual and engaging all the same.
