Glory Road by Lauren K. Denton

4.0

Jessie is a single mom in her late 30's. She owns a garden shop in southern Alabama. Her mom and 14 year old daughter help her out at the garden shop. Jessie is divorced from a dentist who cheated on her 10 years ago and doesn't ever see his daughter, Evan. Things get interesting when Ben, Jessie's best friend from high school moves back to Glory Road. Ben confessed that he was in love with Jessie right after they graduated high school before Jessie moved away, but nothing ever came of it. Jessie moved away and married someone else. There are many feelings still left between her and Ben. Meanwhile, rich Sumner Tate wants Jessie to be the florist for his daughter's wedding. He also wants to court Jessie along the way. She has to decide what is best for her family all the while her mom is struggling with issues of her own and her daughter is growing up.

This was a good, heartfelt, Southern novel. It was a great summer read. The ending left me wanting a bit more. I felt that the tension had built up quite a bit and we were let down with the resolution for Jessie. She deserved a bit more (as well as the readers) than what we were left with. Overall, a great read!
