Miracle Creek
by Angie Kim
A trial attorney, mother, and Korean immigrant walk into a bar ... Or they're one and the same and crafted this amazing novel! Told from several viewpoints, Miracle Creek follows all those affected by a tragic crime while sowing seeds of doubt as to whodunit and what "what" even is. It dives into the emotional struggles of parenting and the complexity of raising a child with special needs. The book wraps up a little too quickly for the slow burn suspense it otherwise builds masterfully. But the author leans on her trial attorney experience to remind us that not everyone gets treated the same by the criminal justice system and not every victim sees justice. This is more than just a mystery; it's a multilayered depiction of life, love, livelihood, and loss.
