House Rules by Jodi Picoult

An interesting storyline which kept me thinking. The struggles which were experienced by Jacob and his family, while exaggerated, gave the reader a real insight into living with ASD and the everyday simplicities we all take for granted - choosing what to eat, choosing what to wear and mixing things up to keep our days interesting - all situations which we find ourselves in regularly which a person with ASD could find extremely difficult. I found Jacob's literal interpretations quite endearing such as 'Waive your rights' and they helped make him a likeable character. I did think the book was very long though and wonder if a bit less 'autism/aspergers' jargon would have helped as this sometimes took over the actual storyline a bit rather than supported it.
