This is an excellent collection of essays on different aspects of living Black in America. Each had something important to contribute, and I appreciate the introduction I got to some of these authors I was unfamiliar with. A number of them referred to Baldwin’s writing, the inspiration and namesake for the book/collection, and I’m that way it was a very successful modern contemplation of the same issues he dealt with in his writing and his letter to his nephew about surviving and existing in America.
