The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
5.0
First I have to say, after reading and loving The Nightingale, I went into reading this book expecting it to be mediocre at best because nothing could possibly compare. I was wrong. This book has taken a spot in my top ten easily; Kristin Hannah has an uncanny way of completely breaking your heart and then mending it in a way that was better than before. This book was no exception. It was deeply emotional and without giving it away, at every drop further into the pit of despair, I felt my heart snap into smaller pieces. But the way she nurtured that brokenness, the way she healed the story, it was just phenomenal. I won’t say anymore at the risk of spoiling the ending but if you’re contemplating reading this - this is your sign to do so.
