City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

1.0

I will start this by saying I loved this when it was a trilogy. I loved Clary, I kind of had a crush on Jace and I shipped Simon and Tessa, from her ~other series. It was fun and overdramatic and there were creatures, I couldn't not love this.

That's how, even though I disliked CoFA, I gave this a chance. I thought it would be like going on a third date with a guy who was nice on the first and boring on the second. I was wrong - this was like giving a second chance to the worst ex-boyfriend in history. The one who cheated on you with your best friend on your birthday and in front of everyone you know. Oh, and he never returned anything you left at his place.

Therefore, I read this even thought the synopsis gave no reason to believe the series got better. I was on vacation, I was bored and it helped me fulfill my book challenge. Clary was boooooring, Jace was Jace (as in, he gets worse with each book) and their relationship was just one long whine. Oh God, the whining. I'm used to a chapter or three of whining in every YA book I read, because they are teens and the world (their parents) conspires against them. But this took the cake, I actually napped halfway through it and I only napped during a book twice before.

This was horrible and I quit, Cassie. Even though I should have quitted during the Draco Dormiens fanfiction trilogy.
