This was the final book in the Glimmer Falls series and I enjoyed this one more than book 2. I went in with the right level of expectation having read Glimmer Falls before and was happy with what I read.

I did find some elements of the dialogue felt like they were trying to hard to be quirky but there was funny one-liners and as a book to escape into, it did the job.

I found the characterisation of Ben being a green-fingered BFG added a fun element to a typical urban fantasy romance. He had vulnerability and maturity (as if hope for a 38yr old male romance lead) and could own his mistakes.

The “crisis” point at the end of the novel felt underwhelming and I could see that from a mile off so I haven’t rated that higher.

This book is also very long. Which, all in all didn’t drag too much but there was definitely a pacing issue and I do feel like more cuts could have been made.

Eleanore was funny for being a vampire who had not been accustomed to modern life and that trope left itself fall into the usual hilarity of trying to explain the modern world to an ancient being. However, after three rounds of this trope within this series - I was kinda of over it at the same time.

There was an extract for Hawley’s newest book due out soon and I am still intrigued enough to wish to read her further work.

Overall, 3 stars!
