Year of the Tiger: An Activist's Life by Alice Wong

5.0

This is a tour de force on disability, ableism, white supremacy, and the future. Much of it written during the early days of the pandemic, Wong details ableist assumptions and how we can resist them and work to change structures. It’s also fun and funny b/c Wong’s voice, to borrow a phrase, is unbought and unbossed. She is unapologetically herself—disabled oracle. The book is built from writing, speeches, and reflections Wong has done over the years and illustrated by 4 artists she commissioned, as well as Wong’s own fun drawings from Canva.
