I received a physical ARC of this book. The book follows Jolene, an assistant at a corporation just as miserable and life-draining as any other. After getting into a little trouble at work, she gets an in she doesn't expect that leads to some scheming, a lot of snooping, but also brings out a version of Jolene who cares about others.

This book had me from the very beginning. There was a point in my life where I could wholeheartedly relate to Jolene and the depressive and anxiety spiral that eats away at you slowly but surely. It was refreshing hearing a person from this perspective, and watching her mindset slowly change over the course of the book.

It can be hard, living in a world where we're all so focused on being "the best" for others, we lose sight of what's best for us. The author does a good job of showing this in this novel.
