What a stunning debut! Beautiful, honest, and tragic.

What I enjoyed most was how the author used time as a tool. We jump back and forth between David’s youth and adulthood to see how the early trauma he witnesses, and is raised in, shape him into the man he becomes. We often see the product of the “Rez”, but this is the story of all the little ways it’s residents are set up to fail.
