The Winner's Kiss
by Marie Rutkoski
The Winner's Kiss begins with Kestrel on her way to being imprisoned in a work camp. Fortunately she isn't there too long, though I won't give anything away with how she gets out. She eventually makes her way to Herran. I thought the author was clever with how she drew out the relationship between Kestrel and Arin in book 3. This book dealt a lot more with the war. Dacra had come to the aid of Herran. I loved Roshar, the Dacran prince. He was a much needed comic relief in the book because it was very intense. I did not care for the many scenes of war and details about it. It actually turned me off a bit to the book and I eventually put the book down. Only a pressing due date at the library helped me to finish it. The story dragged a bit for me in the end.
