It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

5.0

Before I start, this is going to be a brain dump! I don't even know how to put my opinions into words at this point! So, take this as a bullet list of details about this book!
First, EVERYONE should experience this book at some point in their life. This was a beautiful tale of toxic love, self-respect and deep internal conflict. It was an emotional roller-coaster! I think I cried 5 times total, both from happiness and utter heartbreak!

Let's talk about the characters.... Okay, "Naked Truth".... I was obsessed with Ryle in the beginning. He just seemed like the ideal dream boat. He was so witty and fun. And don't even get me started on Atlas! HE. IS. JUST. PERFECT. I loved them so so much! Alyssa was a tidge bit annoying to me, but it's easy to look past! Lily, I just wanted to wrap in a huge hug. She is the most powerful and beautiful character I have read about in a while!

Okay, the PLOT... One thing I didn't like right off the bat was the buildup of their relationship. Ryle's obsession with Lilly was almost immediate and it made me a little uncomfortable right away. However, their buildup really didn't matter all that much, cause all that mattered to the story line was what happened during the relationship! Overall, the plot of the story was so beautiful and tragic. It made me feel for literally every character in the book. Also, I normally don't like when a book randomly switches to "six months later", but it worked out great in this book! Lastly, the ending kind of bothered me. It just seemed a little too fast and basic for me!

Lastly, the THEMES. HOLY SHIT! How this title was mixed into the story made me burst into tears! I loved how colleen Hoover added the title into the plot line in such a beautiful way! Also, what Lily's mother said about her situation in the end is just fucking beautiful! I have never thought of it that way! I did lean towards the thought of "why doesnt she just leave him", regarding every abusive relationship. NOT ANYMORE. I am almost embarrassed with myself now. Cause I did love Ryle and I found myself routing for him even though he did those disgusting things! Once I realized I was having these thoughts.... It clicked! This is why people don't leave! Imagine me loving a character so much that I look past his actions.... and then bring it to the real world! I'm not certain I could bring myself to leave either! Also, the aspect of "I wont hurt my child" did make sense to me! I couldn't see Ryle hurting litter Emmerson. But I wouldn't want my child to look at her father in that way either!

Overall this book was absolutely amazing! I fucking loved it! (again, sorry if this made no sense!)
