Twisted Love by Ana Huang
1.5
fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

It is truly a ✨️1.5✨️ because wtf was this.

The people on BookTok who said this was good, must have never read before.  I said what I said.

There were so many things happening, and yet we were given nothing.

The character development was scraping by.  The spice 🌶 was comedic but not in a good way.  It was incredibly difficult to find any sort relatability with the characters because anyone with a sane mind, won't be like these people.  The whole this Hallmark but make it 🌽.

Let me just preface that the author, Ana Huang, isn't a bad writer - she just can't write a good story.

And let me bless you with some of the quotes here:

"I wanted her, but it wasn't a sweet, tender kind of want.  It was a dirty, ugly want, tainted by the blood on my hands and a desire to drag her out of the sunshine into my night."  [someone call the cops]

"I will destroy him... everything he has ever touched, everyone he has ever loved.  I will ruin them until they're nothing more than a pile of ashes at your feet."   [Stop the dramatics]

"It's too late for me, Sunshine.  I destroy everything beautiful that comes into my life."  [I'm so sick of this nickname, Sunshine.  Also, he's brooding it's insufferable]

"You're mine, Sunshine.  You're never touching another man unless you want him six feet in the ground."  [the way i would have laughed at his face]

🤦‍♀️
