cytocc 's review for:
The Maze Cutter
by James Dashner
As a Maze Runner fan, this was disappointing. I don't have an issue with books that have a million POVs going on at the same time, but if those POVs don't come together well enough, it makes the book unnecessarily long, which is what I felt with one or two of the POVs.
To be fair, her perspective of the entire thing answers many questions the book presents, but the book isn't structured in a way where these questions are asked in the first place. The climax was.. what was that, anyway? It didn't feel anything like a showdown; the events didn't lead up to a confrontation like the one in the book's. Felt like Avatar.
It did end on a really interesting note. Hopefully, the second book is more intriguing than this.
3/5
